frequently asked questions

What is an RVSF and how is it different from a normal scrap yard?

RVSF stands for Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility, an RTO‑approved centre authorised to safely dismantle and recycle End‑of‑Life Vehicles (ELVs) as per India’s vehicle scrappage policy.
Unlike local scrap yards, an RVSF follows strict environmental standards and is linked to the VAHAN portal to update scrapping and deregistration records.

Which vehicles can be scrapped at your RVSF in Dharmasala, Odisha?

We scrap old, unfit, accident‑damaged, seized and end‑of‑life commercial and private vehicles that have a valid registration number plate as per government norms.
Vehicles without valid fitness or registration renewal, or those over the age limits defined in Odisha’s RVSF policy, can also be scrapped at our facility.

Is your vehicle scrapping centre approved by the RTO / Government?

Yes, our facility near Tarini Temple at Anjira, Tarini Chhak, Dharmasala, is authorised as a Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility and operates under RTO and Odisha Transport Department guidelines.
We follow all statutory, safety and environmental rules notified under the national scrappage policy and Odisha RVSF Policy 2022.

What documents are required to scrap a vehicle at your RVSF?

Typically you need the RC (original or copy), owner ID proof, address proof and passport photo, along with an authorisation letter if someone else is submitting the vehicle on your behalf.
In some cases the RTO may also ask for a no‑objection letter from the financer, an affidavit confirming no loan or police case, or any additional forms as per local requirements.

What is the main benefit of scrapping my old vehicle at an RTO‑approved RVSF?

The biggest benefit is that your old, polluting or unsafe vehicle is legally deregistered and recycled, protecting you from future fines, liabilities or misuse of the RC in accidents or crimes.
You also gain a Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping, which can help you get road‑tax rebate or discounts on a new vehicle under the vehicle scrappage policy, while freeing up space and getting fair scrap value.

Do I get a Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping (CVS)

Yes, we issue a valid Certificate of Vehicle Scrapping (CVS) / scrapping certificate for every vehicle legally scrapped at our RTO‑authorised centre.
This certificate can be used to claim road‑tax rebate or incentives on a new vehicle and is needed as proof that your old vehicle has been permanently deregistered.

How is the scrap value of my vehicle decided?

The value is calculated based on the vehicle’s weight, metal and recyclable content, current scrap metal prices, category (car, bus, truck, HCV) and condition of major aggregates.
We follow a transparent valuation process and share the estimated scrap value with you for approval before scrapping starts.

Is the vehicle scrapping process safe and eco‑friendly at your facility?

Yes, our RVSF uses environment‑friendly and regulated processes, with proper draining and disposal of oil, coolants, fuel, batteries, tyres and other hazardous materials.
Parts are dismantled and recycled as per CPCB‑approved norms so that pollution is minimized and no usable components re‑enter the road illegally.

How long does the complete scrapping and deregistration process take?

Physical dismantling of the vehicle is usually completed quickly once it reaches our Anjira, Tarini Chhak RVSF; however, documentation and RTO deregistration can take a few working days depending on the RTO’s processing time.
We keep you updated on status and share the CVS / digital certificate as soon as it is generated on the VAHAN portal.

Can Poddar arrange vehicle pickup for scrapping in Odisha?

Yes, vehicle pickup and transportation to our RVSF near Tarini Temple can be arranged for cars, buses, trucks and HCVs, subject to your location and commercial terms.
You can share vehicle details, pickup address and preferred date, and our team will confirm availability and charges for towing or driver‑based movement.
